After the Elliptical Report from June 2024 Crime that is enabled and in the ecosystem of KryptoassetWe conducted extensive cross-consultations for identifying best practices and effective anti-crime countermeasures that enabled AI.
Extraction from the insight 40 experts in law enforcement, virtual services, regulator, technical startups and academic startups, this article shows key findings and practical measures especially for virtual service providers (VIRPS).
Which VAPPS needs to know
Our consultations identified several threats that enabled and facing VPP:
Enhanced Utaja KYC
Participants rated false ID cards that generated AI as a significant threat (prevalence 4.6 / 7, probability 5.2 / 7). The criminals use AI to create synthetic identities that can pass basic checks checks, sometimes combine them with videos in DeepFake to make them make them make them even legitimate. This sophisticated access to Utasi KYC poses special challenges for VAP compliance teams that try to maintain efficient control of the ship.
Executive for deepoffs
Participants rated Executive for DeepFake scam as a growing concern (probability 4.7 / 7, influence 5.3 / 7). Criminals use video and voice generated AI on easy executives on network meetings, in an attempt to deceive staff to authorize false transactions or payments. For VASPS, this creates new risks around internal controls and staff training, especially for teams that manage large transactions or have access to critical systems.
Enemy threats to state actors
Consultations have identified actors who sponsor the countries using AI as one of the highest threats (impact 5.5 / 7). These sophisticated actors can use and tools to detect reconnaissance and vulnerability when targeting VAPS systems and infrastructure. Given their significant resources and opportunities, enemy state actors represent a certain challenge for VasberSicurity and informative security teams.
Risks of paying services AI
Our consultations revealed growing beneficiaries about users who buy loans for explicit and manufacturers of content and unethical AI services via crypto payment (probability 5.8 / 7). This emerging trend creates new component challenges for VASPs, which need to identify and prevent transactions related to these illegal services. The consultation noted that the blockchain analytics can help find loans for such services.
AI-enabled fraud
Our consultations emphasized the growing sophistication of the investment platforms for generated AI (prevalence 4.6 / 7, probability 5.4 / 7) and AI “arbitration trade slaves” fraud (prevalence 4.9 / 7). A particularly latter exploits the current excitement of about AI technology promising unrealistic return through alleged Ai-Elektran algorithms.
The income from these fraud can be sent to the exchange of accounts for washing wash purposes. With the growth of the fraud that is perceived by pandemic around the world, the VASPS must be all the diligent due to the reinforced risk of being braided by their revenues through their services.
Best Practices for Vasps
Based on our consulting findings, VASPS should give priority:
Detection of behavior detection and analysis of BlockChain to make detection
As a crime that allows AI – especially deceptions – increases in quantity, it is necessary for the solutions to blockchain analytics increase their abilities to reveal these risks in an automated way. At the Elliptik, we use behavioral algorithms and experimented with neural networks to detect malicious wallets and transaction activities to ensure that our tools can protect the waves of crime that enable AI.
Improved user protection
The counseling emphasized the importance of clear communication with users of crime risks that enabled AI. VASP can implement target warnings and notifications about their user interfaces for customer education on potential threats.
This measure is assessed as a special cost-effective, with relatively low implementation costs (4.2 / 7) in relation to its efficiency. Staff should also receive specialized training to help identify and respond to executive fraud in deep correctness and enemy state actors targeting their job.
Improved cooperation
Improved data and Sharing knowledge with law enforcement It appeared as one of the most efficient measures in our consultation, achieving 5.9 / 7 for efficiency with relatively low social costs (3.3 / 7). VASP can establish effective communication channels with law enforcement agencies and contribute to the standardized community notification of the emerging threats that support AI. This cooperation helps build a stronger collective defense than sophisticated criminal operations.
The road forward
The VASPS stands on the defense line from cryptous crime that enabled AI. The key to success lies in a balanced approach: combining sophisticated detection possibilities and with customer education and long-distance cooperation. By applying these best practices, while many threats are enabled and others in their infants, VASP can build a resistor crypto ecosystem that protects users while supporting innovations.
Our report provides comprehensive insights from the consultation of consultation, including best practices for all stakeholders and a practical framework for the categorization of prevention measures in detection, education, cooperation, defense and execution-based approaches.
