We are pleased to announce the return of the Devcon Scholars Program for
Devcon Southeast Asia! By bringing together builders from diverse geographies and disciplines, the Devcon Scholars program offers more than just a scholarship to attend Devcon — it aims to build a community focused on collaborative learning and co-creation, connecting Ethereum to other worlds, and pushing the boundaries of Ethereum. This year, we look forward to welcoming up to 100 scholars divided across four categories: (1) Ethereum Community Organizers, (2) Law Students and Legal Professionals, (3) Artists and Sci-Fi Writers, and (4) Other Builders.

What to expect as a student
The Scholars Program will begin in August and conclude after Devcon in late November.
Here’s what selected scholars can expect:
- Financial supportBased on individual needs, financial support is provided to researchers to cover accommodation, airfare, visa application, daily allowance and/or ticket to attend the Defcon conference. Note: The level of financial need will not affect the selection process. Those who do not require financial support are also eligible.
- Community and Programming Before DevconIn addition to financial support, the Devcon Scholars program focuses on building lasting relationships, mentoring, and providing a space to enhance existing skills and knowledge. There will be online sessions where scholars meet each other, learn together, and prepare for their Devcon experience.
- DefconSpend an amazing Devcon week in Bangkok, Thailand.
- Post DevconAfter Devcon, each researcher will present a learning artifact – a free-format creation that expresses the learning and experience they have gained in their chosen medium.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Devcon Scholars Program, applicants must be:
- Attending Devcon for the first time
- Ability and willingness to spend approximately three hours per week over 3 months, attending online sessions, completing assignments, etc.
We are looking for applicants in the four categories shown in the table below. Please note that applicants can apply in multiple categories, and we strongly encourage applicants from Southeast Asia and underrepresented communities within the Ethereum ecosystem to apply.

Ethereum Community Organizers | This class will bring together a diverse group of Ethereum contributors who are working to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem through active community engagement. This group is dedicated to recognizing and supporting established and emerging Ethereum community leaders and community organizers who are actively working with local communities in blockchain-related areas. This program includes a series of online meetups and brainstorming sessions that will allow scholars to learn more about the Ethereum community and its values, as well as opportunities to meet and interact with other community organizers around the world. | (1) Ethereum Community Leaders Beside (2) Community leaders in blockchain-related fields (eg, communities in open source software, cryptography, economics, data; and broader developer communities). |
Law students and legal professionals | This class is designed to cultivate a new generation of legally competent, technically minded professionals who are committed to the values ​​of the Ethereum ecosystem and understand the importance of open source work to improve Ethereum’s public resources. The program offers community engagement, technical training, expert legal sessions, and mentorship from the Ethereum Foundation’s legal team. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the ecosystem, technologies, and laws surrounding Ethereum, and will be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the Infinite Garden. | (1) Law students: Currently enrolled in law school; demonstrated interest in Ethereum technologies and their legal implications; and participation in relevant extracurricular activities (e.g. blockchain clubs, legal blogs, and articles) is a plus.
(2) Early to mid-career legal professionals: Up to 10 years of professional legal experience; a proven track record of legal research, advocacy, or practice related to technology or financial regulations; and demonstrated interest in Ethereum, as demonstrated by previous work, publications, or involvement in blockchain-related legal initiatives. |
Sci-Fi Artists and Writers Group | This program brings together a diverse group of artists and writers to express through their art the culture and values ​​of Ethereum and the essence of the Infinite Garden. The program includes a series of lectures, practices, and critiques, allowing you to collaborate with other artists and writers, while expanding the vision of the Infinite Garden. The program culminates in an exhibition at Devcon. | (1) Track all media: This track includes artists from all mediums, including but not limited to: music, dance, visual arts, theater, poetry, and more.
(2) Science Fiction Book Path: This track focuses on science fiction writing, envisioning what the future of the infinite garden might look like, and the use cases for this technology. |
Other builders | This category is for developers and other builders from different geographies and disciplines who want to push the boundaries of Ethereum. No knowledge of Ethereum is required. | Everyone is welcome to apply. |
